Chapter 54 – Why? (Jacquie’s POV) *An hour later*

We had sat pretty much in silence for that whole hour when he broke the silence.
“Why?” he said quietly.
“Why what?” I ask.
“Why are you the one who always comes to the rescue?” he says looking down.
“Because you're one of my best friends” I say.
“But not even my sister came” he says.
“You know what it would be like if she did” I say.
“But still..” he says leaning back into the bed.
“I know, but she will be here when she knows you’re not in a … bad condition” I reply.
“Do they know you’re here?” he asks looking at me.
“Tahlia does, Mel … I’m not sure” I say.
“No my parents” he says shakily still looking at me “Do they even know what’s happened?”
“Mel said she will tell them about what happened, but I doubt they know I’m here” I say.
“They don’t like you” he says looking away.
“Your parents don’t like me?” I ask as if he was only joking.
“No they don’t” he says seriously still not looking at me.
“Why?” I say taken back a bit.
He takes a long breath.
“They will probably think this is your fault” he says sighing.
“What? Why?” I said getting a little upset, I had been helping Andrew heaps why would his parents think that way about me?
“They got angry at me …” he says trailing off before starting again, “because I talked more about you then Anna, They always thought I was having an affair or that you were trying to break me and Anna up, They never believed me when I said we were just very good friends … best friends”
“Really?” I ask feeling a little bad even though Andrew and me were just best friends and nothing more but definitely nothing less.
“Yeah” he says looking at me again “Anna didn’t like me bringing you up either but she understood we were just friends, she was quite understanding really … I still don’t get why she left me, I know it wasn’t my fault she lost our baby girl … but she always made it out it was”
He stopped and I could see his eyes well up with tears. I hugged him and he hugged back. It clicked in my head, he said baby girl, he never told any of us it was a girl.
“It was a girl” I say quietly trying not to upset him.
“Yes” he says quietly sobbing into my shoulder “I wanted to call her Charlotte”
I was taken back a bit again, Charlotte was my middle name, few people knew it, I never told really anyone because I never needed to use my middle name.
He looked at me.
“It was a sort of secret way of naming her after you” he says calming a little.
“You shouldn’t have” I said.
“I wanted to cause your always there for me, from high school to now, with any problem and query … anything at all, I thought it was a good name but Anna slammed it and said it was …” he said starting off coolly and then becoming quite angry so I cut him off.
“Don’t worry about it now, just worry about getting better and leaving this place” I say holding his wrists … that had been bandaged up, I decided not to go into it.
