Chapter 10 - What Ryan? (Jacquie's POV)

“What Ryan?” I asked.
“Well I’m sorry about yesterday,” he said sadly.
“Whatever” I replied.
“Well… I… kinda like you and I hate seeing other people with someone I like” he said.
“Aww you like me” I replied with a smile “Well I don’t like you”.
“What?” he said confused.
“I don’t like you” I said walking away.
I was making my way back to Ray’s when I heard Ryan yell, “Get her”.
And 3 boys came running to me.
“What the hell” I said and started running. But they got me. Ryan came up to me.
“Well you're gonna like me” he said.
“No I’m not,” I said trying to break free.
Just then Gerard, Matt and Ray came running to me.
“Let her go” Gerard said.
“No I don’t think so,” Ryan said with a laugh. I tried to free my hand and was successful. I punched one of the guys in the shoulder and Matt hit the other in the back of the head. The other was the weakest that just backed off.
“And I thought New Jersey was gonna be fun” I said “And it is I get to bash up guys nearly everyday”. I laughed.
“ Fine I don’t need you” Ryan said running off.
“Should we go after him?” Ray asked.
“Nah” I replied.“Well that was weird” Matt said.
“What did he want?” Gerard asked.
“He apparently likes me” I replied.
Matt laughed and looked at Gerard. Gerard glared back at him.
“We could stand here looking at each other but I think maybe skateboarding might be fun” Ray said.
“Well that’s weird Ray wanting to skateboard” Matt said.
“Well actually I just want to watch” Ray said with a laugh.
“Can you skate?” Gerard asked.
“Umm no…not really” I replied embarrassed.
“Well we can learn together,” he said with a smile “ Matt knows how to skateboard and he has like millions of them”.
“Okay but don’t laugh at me,” I said with a smile.
“I’ll try not to” he said.

We go to Matt’s and we each get a skateboard including Ray because he didn’t wanna look left out. We went on the street and Matt showed us a couple of things. Gerard was first to try and he got the hang of it really quick. I got up and tried I could stand on it and keep my balance but when I went to move I would fall off. Gerard came over to me.
“Need help,” he asked.
“Yes” I replied.He got me to stand on the board and then took my hand and pulled me around.
“Weee” I said sarcastically.
“Okay now try to move,” he said letting go of my hand.
I tried and I got the hang of it except I looked rather silly.
Ray laughed. I stopped.
“I would like to see you try” I said to him.
He got up and went on the skateboard and tried to move and fell off.
“Exactly, not that easy” I replied with a laugh.

4 hours later…
We had been skating around for ages. I had got the hang of it that good but Ray didn’t he was trying so hard but he couldn’t balance.
“OMG” I said aloud.
“What?” Gerard said skating over to me.
“My mum, she doesn’t know” I said.
“Oh yeah” he said remembering.
“I gotta go tell her,” I said.
We all started skating to my place except Ray who was running along with us. It was funny to watch. We got to my place and I got off the skateboard and ran into the house.
“Mum?” I called out.
“Not here” Kerrie replied “She’s gone to court again she was hoping you would go with her but she saw you with your friends and let you be”.
“Okay” I said and left the house and went over to my friends.
“You okay?” Gerard said.
“Yeah my mums gone to court though” I said sadly.
“Oh” Gerard says.
“Yeah” I say.
“Well lets go have lunch at my house” Matt says trying to make the mood happier.

We walk holding our skateboards to Matts (remember his place is 3 doors down from mine). We drop out boards at the front and go inside.
“Hey Matt where’s your mum?” Ray asks.
“Oh she’s with family till next Friday and I’m stuck here,” he said laughing.
We make some sandwiches. Matt has a cheese one, Ray has a peanut butter one and Gerard has a tuna and whipped cream sandwich.
“Umm that’s different,” I say to Gerard.
“Here have a bit it’s nice believe me,” he said giving me a bit.
I ate it.“Yum” I said“It is nice mind if I make one too?”
“Go ahead” Gerard says happily.
I made one and ate it.

3 hours later…
We had been watching TV and talking.
“Lets have a draw off” Ray said.
“Huh” I replied.
“Well we all know Gerard’s gonna win but still its real fun” he replied.
“Well actually Jacquie is a really good drawer too” Gerard said with a smile.
“Really?” Ray said.
“Yeah, hey Jacquie do you have any drawings here?” Gerard asked.
“Umm yeah in my bag” I said walking to my bag and getting out my drawings.
I passed them to Ray who started looking though them.
“These are great,” he said.
“Aww they're not that good, Gerard’s are way better” I replied.
“My room is boring I’ve got a great idea you and Gerard collaborate and make some sort of mural,” Matt says happily.
“Umm yeah I guess that would be cool,” I say.
“Well heres a piece of paper to draft it” Matt said handing us it and sitting down.
“What do you want?” Gerard asks.
“Umm I dunno how about a marvel comic thing?” I say, “I’m not that fussed”.
Gerard and I talk about it.
“Umm this is worthless we both know you're better when it comes to drawing comics” I say to him.
“Hey you're heaps good too” he says.
“Aww thanks but I know I’m not that good” is say.
“Shut up love birds and finish my mural” Matt says.
I look at Gerard and he looks at me and goes red.
“ I gotta go,” he says running out the door and going home.
“What was that about?” Ray asks.

I get up and run after him.
“Gerard” I yell. He stops.
“What’s up he was only kidding,” I say.
“Yeah but I gotta help mum do stuff” he says quickly I could tell he was lying.
“Ok fine I’ll be at Matts if you want me or I could help you and your mum if you like?” I say.
“Oh no we are fine” he says walking off.
I walk back to Matts and sit next to Ray.

10pm at night…
Gerard had come back and Ray had gone home and Matt tried to make dinner but burnt it. So we ended up having sandwiches.
“ I better get home” I yawned out.
“Yeah I better too” Gerard says.
“You gonna be okay alone?” I say to Matt.
“Yeah” he says.
“Okay bye” I say.
“Bye” Matt says.
“See ya tomorrow” Gerard says.
Gerard and I walked out of the house and go home.
“Bye Gerard” I say.
“Bye Jacquie” he says.
“And Hi miss should have been back hours ago” Kerrie says.
“Oh umm hi” I say.
“Nah kidding” she says laughing.
I laugh too.
“Is mum home?” I ask her.
“Yeah” she says.
“Hey mum” I say walking into the house with a smile.
“Hey Jacquie” she replies hugging me “I’ve gotta tell you something”.
My smile drops I know it was gonna be bad news.
“Well your dad has been sentenced to 10 years in jail” she says.
“Okay” I say as calmly as I could.
“You okay?” she asks.
“Yeah” I say “I’m going to stay over a friends is that okay?”
“Sure Honey” she replies.

I walk out the door and run to Gerard’s.
I knock on the door at this point I am in tears. The door opens and there is Gerard’s Mum.
“Hey Honey,” she says happily until she realises I’m crying “ Oh honey what’s up?”
“Can I please see Gerard?” I manage to say.
“Sure he is in his room,” she says opening the door wider so I could walk though.
“Gerard Honey Jacquie’s here” she yells.
His door opens and I walk up to him and walk in his room.“
Hey Jacquie” he says closing the door.
I sit on his bed and looks at me.
“Why are you crying?” he says, he comes over and sits next to me.
“Dad… jail…10” I say and then hug him.
He hugs back.
“It will be okay,” he keeps saying to me.
