Chapter 12 - What Up Jimmy? (Jacquie's POV)

“So?” I say.

“Well your mum’s in hospital” Jimmy says seriously.

“What?” I say confused.

“She had a drug overdose and she's in hospital” he says.

“Okay you can say Punk’d now” I say hoping it’s a joke.

“No I’m not kidding,” he says.

“No” I say. I burst into tears.

Jimmy goes to hug me and I pull away.

“Jacquie…” he says.

“JUST LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE” I yell running to my house and then into my room.

I lock the door.





(GERARD’S POV)



I hear Jacquie yell something and I run outside to see the guy standing there and Jacquie running to her place. I walk over to the guy and so does Matt and Ray.

“Hey guys I’m Jimmy, I’m a friend of Jacquie’s,” the guy says to us.

“Are you her dad?” I ask.

“No just a friend of her aunts” he says.

“Guys go inside I’ll be in there in a bit” I say.

They go off inside.

“What’s up with Jacquie?” I ask him.

“Don’t worry,” he says walking off.

“Please tell me, she has told me everything so far,” I say to him and he stops and walks back to me.

“I can’t tell you sorry,” he says to me.

“I guess I’m gonna have to ask her myself” I say.

“Umm no” he says.

I walk up to Jacquie’s.

“Gerard” Jimmy says.I stop and look at him.

“So you're Gerard?” he says to me.

“Yeah” I say.

“Well yeah maybe it is better you ask her” he tells me.



I continue to walk to her place and Jimmy joins me. He opens the door. We both walk in but he walks to the kitchen while I walk to her room.

I knock on her door.

“Go away” I hear her yell.

“It’s me,” I say.

I hear hear get up and come to the door. The door opens and her eyes are bright red. I walk in and she closes the door and locks it. She sits back on the bed and starts to cry again. I sit next to her and cuddle her. She leans into me.

“So what’s up” I ask solemnly. She pulled out of my hug with her blue eyes now red and puffy and full of tears.

“My mum…” She said wiping tears away “ Is in hospital cause she had a… drug overdose”.

She burst into tears and fell into me. I hug her tightly. She puts her head into my neck. She tries composing herself but fails.

“Let it out you will fell much better” I say hoping it will help. She looks at me. I look into back into her gaze. Her lips move closer to mine. The there’s a knock at the door and she jumps away.

“Jacquie please let me in” a man says.

“Go away Jimmy” Jacquie says angrily and then comes back into a hug with me.

“What about Kerrie will you talk to her?” Jimmy asks.

“Why can’t you leave me alone?” Jacquie says getting up.

“We care about you” Jimmy says trying to open the locked door.
Jacquie opens the door.
"Don’t you dare follow me Jimmy cause I don’t wanna see you okay” she yelled at him then pushed him outta the way and ran out the house.
I get up and go to walk out the house after her but Jimmy blocks the door.
“What do you think your doing?” I ask him.
“What do you thing your doing?” he asks me back.
“I’m TRYING to go help Jacquie,” I say trying to push past but failing.
“Just leave her for a bit she will be fine” he says.“Do you know that for sure?” I ask him.
“Well no, fine go,” he says letting me past.I ran out the house and look around for her.

I see her at the park on the swings. I run to her.
“Are you okay?” I say slightly out of breath.
She gets up and attempts to walk away. I grab her hand. She looks at me with her eyes full of sadness as tears drop from them. She tries to pull her jacket over her wrists. I realize she is trying to hide them.
“You didn’t… hurt yourself just then did you?” I ask her very calmly making sure I didn’t get her angry or anything. She looks at me as if to say sorry. I bring her closer to me and give her a hug. She squeezes me back tightly.
“I’m sorry,” she says.
“Don’t worry, it will get better, I promise” I say to her still not sure how I could.

10 minutes later…
We are at my place. I’m lying on my bed with Jacquie in my arms. She had fallen asleep about five minutes ago. I lay her down on the bed and I got to the door and close it because I could her Mikey playing his video games and it might wake her up. I feel arms wrap around me. I look and see its Jacquie. She smiles at me. Her eyes are less red. I smile back at her. She lets go and gives me a big hug. I realize I’ve left the guys at Matt’s even though I said I would see them later.
“What’s up?” she says confused.
“Oh it’s the guys I said I would see them later, I’m gonna call them right now and tell them I’m busy with you okay” I say.
“Busy doing what?” she said with a laugh.
“Oh god that sounds dirty” I laugh out.
“Aww that sweet of you but you can go see them if you want” she says.
“Nah I'd rather be with you” I say.
She blushes “Aww you don’t mean that”.
“I do” I say walking over to my phone.
I go to dial Matt’s number but she cancels the call.
“What?” I say.
“Lets go over, I don’t mind” she says.
“Okay if you really want” I say.

We walk out the door and out the house and walk to Matt’s. I go to knock on the door but Jacquie kisses me on the cheek.
“What the hell?” I say confused.
She just smiles.
The door opens and Matt is standing there with a surprised look on his face. Jacquie walks in and sits next to Ray on the couch and has a conversation and leaves me out. I feel rejected as I walk in. I watch until Matt taps me on the shoulder.
“What?’’ I say surprised.
“I saw her kiss you” he whispers to me “ are you … together?”.
“I don’t even know why she did that” I say with a laugh.
“Right” he says with a smirk.
“I’m serious” I say.
“Sure” he replies.
He joins in the conversation with Jacquie and Ray. Now I feel really rejected. I go over to them and join in finally.

20 minutes later…
Jacquie yawns.
“Gerard can you walk me home?” she asks.
“Sure” I say.We say bye to Ray and Matt and walk out the house.We walk to her house but stop at the edge of my lawn.
“What?” I ask her.
“Umm Gerard, I don’t wanna go home can I stay at yours?” she asks shyly.
“Yeah of course” I say.
She smiles.
We walk up to my place. I open the door and tell mum that she’s staying over. I end up having to beg because mum thinks it’s a bad idea but I end up winning.
Jacquie and I walk into my room“you can sleep on my bed if you want” I say to her.
“Okay thanks Gee” she said lying down on the bed.
“Join me I feel lonely” she says with a laugh.
“Umm okay” I say walking over to her and sitting on the bed.
She pulls me down and takes me into her warm embrace.
“Thanks so much Gerard for everything'' she says.
“You're welcome” I reply.
She rests her head on my neck and falls asleep.I feel her breath roll down my neck and then down my back. I slowly fall asleep.

10 minutes later …
There’s a knock at the door and a wake up but Jacquie just hugs me tighter.
Mikey walks in
“Hey Ger… Oh” he says.
“Umm Yeah” I say.
“Well what happened?” he asks.
“Shes just staying over and she …” Jacquie grips me tighter before I could finish.
Mikey gives me the ‘Yeah Right’ smirk.
“Shes really tired and she fell asleep” I say. I cover my mouth realizing how loud I just spoke. Jacquie stirred a bit.
“Gerard loves Jacquie, Gerard loves Jacquie” Mikey mocked.
“Shh you idiot she trying to sleep” I say. Jacquie pulls me closer to her.
“Gerard loves Jacquie” Mikey mocked again.
“But who doesn’t” a sleepy Jacquie said waking up.
I laugh.
Mikey looks at her “So you love Gerard?”
“Yeah but not as much as I love you” she said getting up and giving him a kiss on the cheek.
“Eww” he says wiping his cheek.
I laugh louder.
“I bet you love Frankie too” Mikey says.
“Yep love him too” she says.
Mikey looks at her weird and walks out the door and closes it.
Jacquie starts laughing.
I get up and go to her. I kiss her on the cheek. She stops laughing,
“Why did you do that?” she asks.
“Returning the favor,” I said laughing “Anyways still tired?”
“Yeah” she says walking back to the bed and lying down.
She falls asleep almost instantly.
Mikey opens the door again.
“Gerard loves Jacquie” Mikey says and then closes the door.
I go to the door and lock it. I turn and see Jacquie toss over revealing her slashed wrists.They were red and had at least four deep cuts that I could see. I think about everything that has happened to her. Her dad going to jail, Her mum going to hospital due to drugs. Life had been really mean to her. Why did she have to suffer? Jacquie tosses over again hiding her scars.The doorknob on the door turns but is stopped by the lock.
“Gerard Arthur Way open this door” mum yells to me.
“Shh” I say opening the door.
“Mikey said you were…” she says walking in and seeing Jacquie and shutting up.
“She’s really tired and Mikey woke her up and she has just fallen asleep again” I say to mum.
“Oh okay sorry cover her up she’s gonna freeze” She says back to me.
She walks out the door and I close it. I hear her yell at Mikey and Mikey whine back.I pull the covers over Jacquie but she has better ideas and hugs me still in her unconscious state. Her hugs were so warm and loving but then I caught another glimpse of her wrists and feel sorry for her. She finally lets go and I climb over and get into bed. I pull the covers over us and then pull her closer to me and hug her. And I drift asleep.
