Chapter 13 - Kicking or Punching? (Jacquie's POV)

I wake up and look around and realize I’m at Gerard’s. Oh yeah I remember now I stayed over. I got to get up but something’s holding me down. I look and realize its Gerard he is hugging me. How do I get up?
“Gerard” I say.
I shake him.
“Gerard Wake up I gotta go get my stuff,” I say to him.
“No” he mumbles. Oh crap it’s Monday.
“Gerard It’s Monday we need to get ready for school” I say.
“No I’m staying,” he mumbles again.
I guess he still asleep.
The door opens.
“Gerard Honey time to get up” his mum says coming in.
“Umm help” I say.
“Oh” she says with a smile.
“What am I suppose to do?” I ask.
“Tried shaking him?” she asks.
“Yeah” I reply.
“Kicking or punching?” she says laughing.
“Never, I don’t wanna hurt him,” I say.
“Tickle him?” she says.
I tickle him and he starts laughing a really cute laugh and wakes up.
He jumps when he realizes he was hugging me.
“I’m sorry,” he says.
His mum and I laugh.
I get up and so does he.
“So aren’t you gonna ask your girl friend how she is?” his mum says.
This shocks me a bit and he starts blushing .
“Umm she’s umm not my umm girlfriend” he says nervously.
“Sure looks like it” Mikey says poking his head in though the door way and then being shooed off by his mum.
They both leave except Me and Gerard.
Gerard is still blushing.
“Hey don’t worry” I say to him.
“I gotta get my stuff from home okay meet you at the front of here in like 20 minutes okay” I say.
“Sssure” he says still blushing.
I laugh and leave the house and go to mine.
When I get to the front door I take a deep breath and open it. I close the door after me and go to my room. I close the door after me. There’s a knock at the door and in walks Jimmy.
“Jacquie” he says.
“What?” I ask annoyed.
“I’m sorry about your mum and so is Kerrie we should have kept an eye on her” he says.
I feel like I’m about to cry a river but I hold it in.
“Where’s Kerrie?” I ask.
“She with your mum in hospital” he says “Do you wanna go see her?”
“No my mum is gonna be in a bad state she could have died” I say fighting back the tears.
“Well okay” he says “Need a lift to school?”
“No I walk thank you very much” I say angrily.
“Listen Jacquie I’m really sorry okay I …”
“Shut up I don’t wanna hear it at the moment” I say packing my stuff for school.

He finally walks out the door. I go and get changed into a pair of black denim jeans and a long black sleeve top to hide my scars. If anyone at school was to know it could spell disaster.

21 minutes later…
I walk out and see Gerard, Matt and Ray waiting for me.
“Hey” I say to them.
“Hey” they all reply.
“So everything okay?” Gerard asked me.
“It’s okay not great though” I say, “Do you guys know where the hospital is?”
“Yeah” Gerard says “Why?”
“I need to go see someone like right now?” I say.
“Oh no not another day off school for you two again” Matt says laughing.
“Shut up Matt” Gerard says “I’ll take ya”.
“You two are seriously taking too much time off school especially you Jacquie you have only been at school for two days and today is your third and you have already had a day off and if you have another off now its gonna be two” he says.
“Matt don’t worry okay I’ll fill you and Ray in on what’s happened later” I say.
“Okay Jacquie lets go” Gerard says.
“Okay” I say walking with Gerard to the hospital.
Matt and Ray walked in the opposite direction of us obviously going to school.

10 minutes later…
We arrive at the hospital and we walk in. I walk to the receptionist with Gerard next to me.
“Hi” she says.
“Umm Hi” I say.
“How can I help you” she says. I take a deep breath.
“Is there a Ms Valkyrie here she’s my mum and I need to see her” I say biting my lip.
“Oh yeah shes here but now might not be a good time to see her” she says solemnly.
“Please I need to see her or at least her sister Kerrie who should be here too” I say holding back tears.
“Well I guess so, I’ll just page someone to take you” she says.
She walks over to a phone and dials a number and talks for a couple of minutes and comes back.
“Someone will be down in a bit so sit over there okay,” she says. I walk over to the seats with Gerard.
“You okay?” he asks.
“Yep” I said with a shaky voice.
“Don’t worry your mum’s gonna be fine” he says trying to reassure me.
“I hope so,” I say still in a shaky voice.

A man in white walks to the receptionist she points him over to us and he walks over to me.
“Hey please come with me,” he says.
I get up and so does Gerard. We follow him to an elevator and we go inside, He hits the button for the third floor, We start to go up. when we reach the third floor the doors open and we walk out with him, We walk down the hallway passing numerous rooms till we come to one and he opens the door and lets me and Gerard in and then follows. Mum is on the bed with a couple of things connected to her. Kerrie is sitting next to her with her make up ruined and smudged on her face. Kerrie looks at me and gets up and walks to me. She tries to hug me but I move so she couldn’t.
“Jacquie I’m so sorry, I didn’t know about this” she said crying.
She attempted to hug me again but I refused it. I walked over to my mum lying motionless on the bed. Gerard put his hand on my shoulder. I turned around and he hugged me. The man in white walked over to me.
“She should be fine in about a week” he said, “We have done a couple of things and she should wake up today”.
I hugged Gerard tighter he started rubbing my back. Jimmy walked in. Kerrie immediately ran to him and she hugged him.
“What are you doing here Jacquie?” he asked. I didn’t answer.
“I offered you a ride,” he continued.
“I don’t need your help I can walk,” I say.
I let go of Gerard and he lets go of me. I sit on the chair Kerrie was sitting on before, Gerard stands next to me, Kerrie and Jimmy were on the other side of my mum.

8 hours later…
I woke up after hearing a small call of hello. I look around and see that everyone had gotten seats and had fallen asleep. I look and see my mum moving a bit.
“Hello” she said again.
“Oh my god mum” I yelled and got up and hugged her.
She hugged me back.
Everyone started waking up after hearing me yell. Jimmy left the room to go get the doctor. Kerrie joined in on the hugging.
“I’m so sorry” my mum said to me. I started crying but it was just great knowing she was alive and was gonna get better.
“I’m really sorry to say this but visiting hours are over” a doctor said coming in with Jimmy.
“We can’t go my sister just woke up” Kerrie said.
“I’m sorry” he said again directing us to the door.
“Bye mum” I say giving her a kiss and a hug.
Gerard and I started walking out the room. I could hear Kerrie and Jimmy saying bye.They walked out of the hospital with us. They walked to the car. Gerard and I just kept walking home.
“Come on Jacquie in the car” Kerrie said to me.
“No I’m walking” I said walking. They drive off.
“Phew I thought they would make me” I said with relief to Gerard.
“Yeah” he said “My mum isn’t gonna be happy I skipped again”.
He laughed.
“What?” I asked him.
“Matt and Ray had to go to school,” he said.
“Oh yeah school should finish soon right?” I said, “I dunno lets go see shall we?” he said.
“We shall,” I said laughing.
We walk to Gerard’s.
“Let’s keep walking cause eventually we should find Matt and Ray” I say.
“Yeah” he says back to me.
